As someone who has worked in the financial field for the last 13 years, I have come to realize mindset matters immensely.
As I have listened to and read the content of many personal finance “experts,” I have come to realize all of it is of little value if we are not focusing on a true mindset change.
Finance Mindset is an essential step to having long-term money success. If your goal is to establish real wealth, there are no shortcuts – just financial discipline and smart decisions will get you there.
Most experts focus on what you cannot do, which doesn’t work. My focus is on mindset and how it will help you live a life of abundance – not scarcity.
This mindset can be applied to all aspects of life, and for that reason we will focus on money matters and all things related.
Education
It was my dream from a young age to attend and graduate from the University of Utah. I received my degree in business finance. Prior to attending business school, I took a class in personal finance. This course really was the seed that started everything. From that point forward I have read and studied this subject daily.
Professional
One of my jobs during college was working as the president of a lending company. I am sorry to say, the rates on our loans were very high and made to sub-prime borrowers. This was one of my first exposures to poor mindsets and how it can devastate people financially. I didn’t stay at this institution very long because once I recognized the industry and saw it for what it was, I knew it went against everything I believed about money management. It helped me realize I want to do more to help people with their Finance Mindsets.
For the past eight years, I have worked as a mortgage loan officer. This has taught me a great deal about personal finance, as I get to see the good and bad of many people’s money situations. At times I have also felt conflicted because it’s hard to see people over-extend themselves with a mortgage.
These three areas – and many others – have helped me with the Finance Mindset concepts I am eager to share here.
Personal
I am blessed to have an amazing wife and children. They truly are my inspiration for everything I do. I love spending as much time as possible with them.
